That sums it up Fellas..Keep all your doubts and apprehensions behind, the Boys have Delivered and Big Time. On a sunny afternoon in Merseyside, Everton have been humbled. The Gunners put 6 past them, yeah you heard me right, against a hapless Everton. The game began with the Gunners passing in their characterisitc style moving the ball around but couldnt fashion a clear cut chance in the final third.
There was something definitely different about today, and in 2 words I can call that "Niklas Bendtner". A different person he is now, seems he has taken to heart all the criticism of last season. Niklas , I speak for all the Gooners out there, you keep playing like that and we will be eating our words soon and gladly so. The opening goal was initiated by his neat footwork but if that was appreciable then one has to find an additional supply of superlatives for Denilson's finish.
Though Everton tried to pressurize us and came agonisingly close from a set piece. Their own defending would take some soul searching though, as Vermaelen thumped home and Gallas eased one past, a goal that would make the Opposing Manager unhappy even on the training ground.
The second half can be pretty much called as the Cesc Fabregas show. Denilson set Van Persie through and he supplied a crisp pass through to Cesc who duly obliged. Fabregas stepped up the ante when he collected a pass from Almunia and made sure it ended in Tim Howard's net, all in a matter of seconds. His gesture towards his compatriot Daniel Jarque whose tragic demise put us in shock, just goes to show that football is more about than what goes on the field.
Cesc had managed only 3 in the whole of last season and boasts of 2 on the opening day of this one. When Eduardo comfortably put past the 6th after Arshavin's shot had come back off the post, I was literally pinching myself. Closing in on the final whistle, Loui Saha salvaged some pride for the home side by netting their opening goal, surely not the way they would have liked it though.
What stands out is the focus, the determiantion and the attitude of the players. No signs of nervousness in a team that was without Nasri, Walcott and Rosicky and no matter what situation the game was in, they gave their 100%, the tackles and slides all around exemplified that. And a word on Vermaelen to finish off things, Wenger, you have done it again. Hats off..
God Bless You Boys!!!
Celtic, You Are Next..
