soccer

The English Premier League January 2022 transfer window opens on the 1st of January and closes on Monday, the 31st of January. The winter transfer window is approaching, and we take a look at what may happen.

In Europe, the Ligue 1 and Bundesliga winter transfer windows also open on the 1st of January, while Serie A and La Liga clubs can start trading on the 3rd of January. Like every other time, English Premier League clubs can sell and buy players as well as complete strike loan deals during thirty-one days in January.

Needless to say, this EPL winter transfer window will be extremely busy, especially for Newcastle and the club’s new owners are ready to splurge on new players. This winter transfer window is also important for Manchester United as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was replaced by Ralf Rangnick.

Ralf Rangnick will probably make some changes in the squad even though Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane, and Cristiano Ronaldo recently joined the team.

Manchester City may also make some changes. At the beginning of this season, the club invested over £100 million in signing Jack Grealish. Many fans believe City is looking for a new striker. Guardiola was interested in bringing Harry Kane to the squad. The January transfer window is deemed to be very interesting as many high-profile players are looking for new clubs since their contracts expire in several months.

Pogba’s contract with Manchester United expires the following summer, while Rudiger may leave Stamford Bridge at the end of his contract. Jesse Lingard may also leave Manchester United to potentially join West Ham where he currently plays on a loan.

Other players who may move to new clubs during the January transfer window are Nicolas Pepe, Trézéguet, Marcus Forss, Alexis Mac Allister, Jay Rodriguez, Saúl Ñíguez, Jairo Riedewald, Cenk Tosun, Joe Gelhardt, Hamza Choudhury, Nat Phillips, Cole Palmer, Jamal Lewis, Todd Cantwell, Moussa Djenepo, Dele Alli, Ken Sema, Manuel Lanzini, and Willy Boly.

Newcastle United Potential Transfers

As we all know, Newcastle United was bought for over £300 million by a group operated by the Saudi Arabian government. This move made Newcastle United the richest Premier League club, and the new owner is ready to invest in new players this winter transfer window.

Eddie Howe already revealed three players he wants to bring to the club. As of today, Newcastle is placed nineteenth with only ten points, two wins, four draws, and nine losses.

To stay in the EPL, Newcastle United hopes to sign Ousmane Dembele who currently plays for Barcelona. Even though Manchester United also joined the race to sign the Barcelona forward, Dembele is more likely to join Newcastle than United, according to most experts.

Newcastle also wants to sign Romain Faivre who currently plays for Stade Brestois. As reported, the club is also aiming for Lorenzo Insigne. Reportedly, Newcastle United also wants to bring Florian Grillitsch during this winter transfer window. Newcastle is also one of many teams hoping to sign Darwin Nunew who currently plays for Benfica.

As revealed by the club’s icon Rob Lee, Newcastle wants to sign six players in January. The club will most likely prioritize signing Kieran Trippier, James Tarkowski, and Jesse Lingard. Coached by Eddie Howe, Newcastle had its long-anticipated victory in a match against Burnley played a couple of days ago.

The team’s following matches are against Manchester United, Manchester City, and Liverpool, and it will be interesting to see what Allan Saint Maximin, Joe Willock, Callum Wilson, Miguel Almiron, and the rest of Howe’s squad can do to stay in the EPL.

Manchester United Potential Transfers

Reportedly, Ralf Rangnick wants to strengthen the Red Devils squad with Ousmane Dembele and Frenkie de Jong. If Paul Pogba leaves the team, Ralf is keen on replacing him with midfielder Frenkie de Jong who currently plays for Barcelona.

Pogba’s contract ends in the summer of 2022. He already asked the club to raise his salary, but no official agreement has been made. Alongside Newcastle, Manchester United is also interested in signing Ousmane Dembele.

Ousmane Dembele was already offered a higher salary to stay playing at the Nou Camp, but he seems ready to explore other options. Reportedly, Rob is also ready to give Timo Werner another chance to play at Old Trafford if he leaves Chelsea at the end of his contract.

Manchester United may also sign Philippe Coutinho who wants to return to England. Reportedly, United is also interested in signing Jules Kounde during the next summer transfer window. Rob is also keen on signing Franck Kessie during the next summer transfer window. This January, Aurelien Tchouameni may join the Red Devils team if Paul Pogba leaves.
