Sligo Rovers are a team from the North West side of Ireland . There the most successful club in Connaught winning the league twice, Fai Cup twice, and 1 time league cup winners, 1994 was a memorable year for Rovers as the recorded a treble winning the FAI Cup, The Shield and promotion from the first division. Rovers shocked the footballing world in the 1940's when they announced the signing of the legendary Dixie Dean. Rovers have been in Europe twice the furtherest they reached was the second round getting knocked out by Club Brugge 5-2.however its not always been good for Sligo Rovers for years the club have stated that they have financial  problems but they keep going to this day and 2008 is expected to be a year they gain money as they have a great season going at the moment. June 10th, 2008 was a day that would shock not only sligo but all of Ireland as Johnny Chadda, President of Rovers, and long time fundraiser for the club. He is often considered the man who kept Sligo Rovers even existing to this day.
