Olympique Lyonnais was nationally established as a Football club on August 3, 1950 in the French City of Lyon. They are popularly known as OL, or simply Lyon. They play in Ligue 1 (Première division or Division 1 until 2003, now called Ligue 1 Orange) and are the reigning champions of France, for the sixth time running. Lyon’s major achievements include six Trophées des Champions, three Ligue 2 Championships and Coupe de France titles as well as seven participations in the UEFA Champions League.
