Famous for the first ever Turkish football club, Galatasaray was founded in 1905 by a group of football enthusiast students of Galatasaray Lycee. Their names include Ali Sami Yen, Asim Tevfik Sonumut, Reşat Şirvani, Cevdet Kalpakçıoğlu, Abidin Daver and Kamil among others. Ali Sami Yen was the first ever president of the club, with Tevfik Sonumut as the accountant, and Cevdet Kalpakçıoğlu as the vice president.
