The team is currently at the top tier of the FA Premier League. At the time of inception, the club was known as St Andrew's Church and Sunday school. In 1887, the team had won the West London Amateur Cup and later in 1888, they changed their name to the current one. On December 12, 1898 the club had gained a qualified status and was admitted into the Southern League's 2nd division. In 1902-03 they entered the Southern League 1st Division after winning a promotion from this division. The club had also managed to mark their win at the Southern League during 1905-06 and 1906-07.   After the Southern League triumphs, Fulham gained admission to the national Football League. In 1907-8 seasons, the club played its ever first league game but they lost the match against Hull City by 1-0. On September 7, 1907, the team marked their first win by 1-0 at Derby County 's Baseball Ground. The season was regarded as the best season but soon the team had to face relegation as they had won only 13 out of the 42 games. The 8-3 wins at the Luton Town in an FA Cup game was perhaps the highlight of the season. Though the club managed to reach the semi-finals of that tournament, they lost the match to Newcastle United by 6-0. Few years later, the club won the London Challenge Cup in the 1909-10 seasons.   Fulham won the division in the 1931-32 seasons after finishing 5th, 7th and 9 th in their first three seasons. To regain their rankings into the Second Division, Fulham defeated Torquay United by 10-2, scored 111 goals and won 24 of 42 games. The club had reached another FA Cup semi-final during the 1935-36 seasons. However, with the outbreak of World War II, the League and cup football were severely disrupted. A full league programme was restored only for the 1946-47 seasons, post-war. Fulham finished top of the Second Division, with a win-loss-draw record of 24-9-9 in the third season.   The club reached the FA Cup semi-finals in 1958 after a brief season of mediocre performance in the 2nd Division. The team used this opportunity to gain promotion to the 1st Division after finishing 2nd to Sheffield Wednesday, in the following season. Fulham achieved the 10th position in the 1st Division during the 1959-60 seasons which became their highest ever league position until 2003-04. The club faced numerous close escapes from relegation on different occasions. However, they faced relegation during the 1967-68 seasons after winning just 10 out of 42 games. The next season, they won only 7 out of 42 games and the club was relegated to the 3rd Division. Their 3rd Division status lasted for only two seasons and in 1970-71 they were promoted back to the second division. This promotion gave them qualification for the Anglo-Italian Cup that helped the team in bringing out their best performance. The club earned a draw for four out of four games in their two appearances between 1972 and 1974. In 1979-80, the club was demoted again after winning only 11 out of 42 games. Newly appointed manager Malcolm Macdonald, built a strong squad during the period when he was in charge and helped the team to win a promotion to Division 2 in 1981-82.   The period between 1990-2000 was very confusing era as the club sometimes celebrated their promotion to the top flight and was sometimes kept repeating bad performance. During the 2001-2003 periods, Fulham were advised to participate in the Premiership but despite a couple of good and brilliant games they could earn only 13 th place. At the end of 2002-03 seasons, Chris Coleman guided the team to earn 10 out of a possible 15 points which helped them to gain a place in the Premier League for the next season. Between December and May, Fulham won only a single game, a 2-1 victory over Newcastle United. During that same period, Fulham drew 9 games and lost 4. On the 10 April 2007, following defeats against Manchester City by 3-1 and Everton by 4-1, the club terminated the agreements of Chris Coleman and Steve Kean. They were replaced by Lawrie Sanchez and Les Reed for temporary charge.     League Table This season   Games played: 15 Games Won: 2 Games Lost: 6 Games Draw: 7 Total Points: 13
