Maurico Ariel Caranta (born on July 31, 1978 in Bell Ville, Córdoba) is an Argentine professional goalkeeper currently playing at Argentine club Boca Juniors . Caranta started his career with Instituto de Córdoba in 1999. He helped Instituto to win the Primera B Nacional Apertura 2003 tournament and promotion to the Primera Division Argentina later in the 2003-2004 season. In 2005 he moved to Mexican club Santos Laguna before returning to Argentina to play for Boca in 2007, conquering the Copa Libertadores 2007 as their first-choice goalkeeper. In August 2008 he was the first choice goalkeeper for both legs of the Recopa Sudamericana final, which Boca won 5-3 against Arsenal de Sarandí.
