Carlos Andrés Diogo Enceñat, Diogo (born July 18, 1983 in Montevideo), is an Uruguayan football player, who currently plays for Real Zaragoza in the Spanish second division, as a defender/midfielder, on the right side of the pitch. The son of one of the best Uruguayan soccer players, also named Carlos Diogo, who also played in Peñarol, and several Brazilian soccer clubs, Diogo was previously with River Plate Montevideo ( Uruguay, 1999-03), C.A. Peñarol (2003-04) and Club Atlético River Plate ( Argentina, 2004-05). In the summer of 2005, Diogo signed with Spain 's Real Madrid, with first team opportunities being scarce. On 23 August 2006, the Spanish capital outfit decided to send him out on loan to Real Zaragoza, for an undisclosed fee. On August 2007, the move was made permanent, but Madrid agreed to take just €3 million instead of the initial 4, inserting a clause in his contract that enabled a total refund of the money, were a top class team to bid for his services. On January 6, 2007, Diogo was involved in a fight with Sevilla FC's Luís Fabiano, after apparently stepping on the Brazilian's hand and insulting him, which led to Fabiano putting Diogo in a strangle-hold in the closing stages of the game. This incident was punished with a five-game ban to both players. Diogo played for Uruguay in the 2007 and 2004 Copa América tournaments.
