One of the most successful strikers the football world has ever seen, Andriy Shevchenko plays for Chelsea football club and is the skipper of Ukrainian national team. He was born on September 29, 1976 in the Village of Dvirkivshchyna near Yahotyn in Kyiv province. He was a capable boxer at an early age but had to drop out of boxing due to his physical built. His family was relocated to the coastal area after the Chernobyl nuclear disaster and Shevchenko took to football.
