Liverpool are slipping badly this season after a great campaign last time out. What's changed so drastically that Liverpool now lose every other week?

I'm struggling to understand what big changes have occurred. Sure we sold Alonso but it's just one player. Our biggest problem, as far as I can see is that our defence has been very shaky. Glen Johnson making a number of errors recently, Carra having a 'mare and Skrtel and Agger being injured periodically. What I'd even more baffled about is the refusal to play Aquilani for full games especially against Arsenal. After paying 20m for him I hope he doesn't turn out like Babel or Keane or Bellamy.

We are weaker than last year. The team is the same except it's now Lucas instead of Alonso. Aquilani is injury prone thats why I think Rafa isn't using him yet, want's his injury to fully heal because one tackle by someone like Essien and he's injured again.Btw I don't aactually think Keane or Bellamy were particularly bad for us, I just think Rafa changed his mind on them. As for Babel, you can see he wants to leave. Didn't seem that happy when he score. Pity, as he has potential.

From what I can tell losing Alonso has affected Liverpool a lot. There is no one to play any killer balls to Torres and Gerrard. Also, for some unknown reason, Liverpool's defence has taking the turn for the worst this season and the ridiculous amount paid for Glen Johnson seems more and more of a bad move. There have been too many injuries - especially to Torres and Gerrard and Benetiz also seems to just pick out a team/formation at a random walk. I just hope we don't lose Mascherano and Torres at the end of this season.

i want to put it on bad luck.. but losing alonso was HUGE in my opinion, injuries, defense is lacking so much.. etc. we can only go up from here.. i hope.
