It's a really tough question to answer. In terms of success, I think it has to be Fergie... At the same time, I think maybe he would need to manage somewhere else to see if his magical skills are team transferable! Why Brian Clough??

I also think it has to be Ferguson. Unbelievable what he created at Manchester.

Sir Alexander Chapman Ferguson OBE of course, how can it possibly be any one else ? @ Dan K - you want to see if his success is team transferable? Take a look at his record with Aberdeen.......they enjoyed their best success ever under his leadership........if you need proof then read this article http://carlyluvsunited.blogspot.com/2008/12/each-and-every-one-of-us.html and then come back and try to tell me I'm wrong ;)

fergie done it at pittodrie with aberdeen before going to man utd, he has built a few teams and all have been good, before you start slagging of the scottish league, he won the cup winners cup with aberdeen and also the super cup in europe, so he is the stand out manager with clough and stein not far behind.

Guus Hiddink....anyone who can take South Korea that far in the world cup, and win the cup with Zenit must be a master...

@ pistolasfc - South Korea kicked, hacked and cheated their way to the world cup semis helped along by favourable refereeing decisions. Everyone knows that, so Hiddink can take no credit for that. The UEFA Cup and Super Cup aren't all that either to be honest. When has he won a league title in Italy, Spain or England or when has he coached a team to become champions of Europe? He hasn't. There are many, many managers ahead of him I'm afraid.

Hidding is good, but his success is always of short time. The greatness of Ferguson is that Mancheser has been a great team for much more than decade now.
