A brief history of the Brasileirão, Mengo is back
By urubu

A championship with four clubs playing for the title in the last round. A championship that had three teams delayed with 65 points at the 22 minutes of the end. And that was conquered by the team what only leadership by two number of games. The Brazilian 2009 contradict almost all the predictions of mathematicians and specialists.

Between election dispute, back pay & lack of structure, more than once the direction of Flamengo contradicted the logic of management of modern football and despite all the improbabilities the giant woke. The sixth title was conquest with the red - black mark, a team of arrival. A champion unforgettable by one championship for history.

Even playing well the team started losing, the relationship between players and the staff was a major problem and the departure of key players such as Ibson, Emerson by transfer and Kleberson through injury, made the situation worse.

The dissatisfied crowd celebrated the fall of the coach Cuca and at round 14 Andrade took over as interim. It was the 1.000 th game of Fla in the championship history in the house of Santos where we have not won in 33 years.

With this victory (1x2) and the following against Atletico MG (3x1) Andrade was finally effected as coach. Still feeling the loss of several players the problems continued and reached the half of the season in 14th place.

The spectacular reaction in the second turn took the Mengão fight for top positions and finally get the lead in the penultimate round. The last game was tense, the expectation to get this title after so many years has created great anxiety in the team and fans, and to be more dramatic we start losing in a crowded Maracanã. Finally Flamengo turned the score and the nation could celebrate a big party that has spread across the country.

Was a championship of many stories and even how some stars in the cast it´s hard to find the individual highlight of this team.

Andrade
, the eternal 6 shirt in the history of Flamengo, five times Brazilian champion as a player, wins the Brasileirão for the sixth time now as a coach to make history not only for this...(link)

Adriano, the emperor abandoned a lucrative contract in Europe to rediscover happiness in Mengo. Decisive in many games, finished as the league top scorer with 19 goals.

Dejan Petkovic: The unlikely hiring of the 37 years old and discredited Petkovic was a joke for the press. With the desire to end his career at Flamengo, the serbian practically imposed their engagement  in exchange for an old debt, the gringo came for economic agreement and without plans to participate effectively in team. But the old idol surprised everyone and became one of the highlights of the championship.

Ronaldo Angelim, the quarterback who almost had his leg amputated earlier this year scored only one goal in this league, the final and decisive goal against Grêmio. As the crowd of Mengo says: There´s only one Ronaldo, a defense who never took a red card and won five titles by Mengão in the last four years.

Willians, the tireless, greatest ball recovering in the league.

Bruno
, the goalkeeper decided some important games taking  three penalties in sequence, two in the same game.

Leo Moura, Juan, Airton, Toró, Zé Roberto, Alvaro, Maldonado, Fierro, David, Everton, Fabrício, Bruno Mezenga, etc. all were decisive in some way, with the always special participation of the red and black nation.

PS: After all, the largest and most unbelievable feat of this championship was our eternal arch-rival Fluminense in his miraculous escape from the relegation.Flu with Fred, Conca and the youngs Gum, Digão, Mariano, Maicon, Alan, played the best football of Brazil in the last 3 months

He is more for big kid, a good guy for shure, all the other players seem to like him very much. The management problems are only beginning, an achievement as this adds value to players and offers come from all over the world. The day after from the title was elected the new president of the club, former swimmer Patrícia Amorim, now we have a woman in charge and I hope that means a good sign of change.

Well, so says our sacred prophecy: There will come the day when our savior will return. But for now Zico continues his coaching career in Olympiakos.
