Match Analysis
What a night it was. I was calm before the game and believed we will pass
Fiorentina
quiet easily.
Well I was only really nervous last night after the 2:0. For a couple of minutes I thought this might be it. But then I was calm again, even after the 3:1 for Fiorentina. Too big is my trust these days in Robben, that he will once again make the impossible.
I believe Bayern has a
real
chance to reach the final this year. The big difference is Robben and Ribery, although Ribery is not performing that well so far. Bayern can turn around a game, like they did in Turin and like they did last night. They can score a goal any time, from any position.
The only problem remains the defence and the goalkeeper. Last night clearly showed that the difference is weak. van Buyten played, but he should not have. He was clearly not fit, but van Gaal had no alternatives. In my opinion Badstuber is much better on the left side, although the Austrian kid looks really good. And then there is Hans Joerg Butt. Butt is an OK goalkeeper. A goalkeeper that is good enough to play at Dortmund,
Wolfsburg
or
Bochum
. But he is definitely not good enough for Bayern. Last night was a perfect example. The Bayern manager knows this and probabbly they will bring someone on this summer.
Robben turned out to be once again fantastic. What an amazing player ! There is almost no way to stop him. He is faster than anyone else, more explosive than any player in the world and he knows how to shoot. Ribery also became stronger last night and it is amazing to see how he manages to shake off three defenders.
I can already see the comments saying that Bayern was lucky..blabla. But face it, Fiorentina had one offside goal, one goal that was clearly a foul. Still we managed to get back in the game and I believe especially in the second half we were clearly the dominating force.
So now all the way to the final...

Hi, Mani. What a game! A real roler coaster of goals and emotins - and Bommel's goal was stunning. Müller and Butt disappointed, but the two "R"s -Ribery and Robben- made more than up for it. Welcome to the quarterfinal!

I have no bad feelings towards Bayern, and would be more than happy if they reached the Finals. But honestly the third goal was hardly a push by Jovetic on VanBuyten and was definitely not a foul. Bayern were anonymous in the first half and were overall lucky to get through. That said, with Robben in scintillating form and Ribery expected to improve they can be a much better team come the quarter finals, and only then can they reach the final, definitely not by playing like they did against Firenze.

Mani- here comes the blabla ;-) Bayern was actually very lucky to have made it to the quarter-final. Klose's last-minute winning goal in the first leg was a CLEAR offside position (against a 10-man Florentina), whereas yesterdays alleged offside goal was far less obvious. Altogether, apart from two outstanding players (Robbery), Bayerns performance in the CL has been anything but superior so far .

@Rafi: maybe you should continue watching Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga :) And yesterday Byaern got two goals that were clearly illegal. One offiside and one foul. Why argue about it, we came back and won.

Bayern were good to come back twice. Also seems that Robben was a level higher than Ribery, Bayern are a dangerous side to play, somehow Van Gaal has figured it all out at the business end of the season!

Yeah one offside goal and we are gonna hear about it for the next ten years...No mention about Viola offside goal...No mention about Klose given offside after shweini dummied viola defence...No mention about the "last" viola defender fouling Ribery in the first leg and not getting a card...No mention about penalties not given for fouls on Robben first leg and Mueller second leg not given coz they stayed on their feet..... @Karolis , Whether Bayern makes it to Semi or not..We have advance two steps ahead then Pool and will be in CL next season as well...Kepp hating...

@Karolis: We just bring Liverpool up, because it is good to see them out already so early :) I think Bayern does ot have that many fans outside of Germany and the Bundesliga is not that attractive. However, it was almost like everyone was waiting for them to be kicked out by Fiorentina. Obviously I saw the game and I believe Bayern was much better than how things were presented.

@Dmitri: What team do you support in the Champions League? Now we need an easy draw for the next round, such as Sevilla and then all the way to the final.

Lyon and Bordeaux would be easier to beat than Sevilla. Sevilla are really good, I would think they will beat Bayern with the quality of their attack. Jesus Navas is in superb form and is better than Robben. And Ribery looks totally out of form.

@Akhil: I saw us against Bordeaux and although Bayern improved a lot since then, they will be difficult to beat. Also Lyon. Somehow we do not have a good track record against French teams. As for Robben, nobody is better than Robben currently ! Ribery is indeed out of form, but he is still dangerous.

@Mani: support CSKA (unfortunately) since Russia need all the UEFA coefficients to stay ahead of Ukraine, but obviously, Barca remain a favorit.. however, Spartak will join CL this august, so i'll be looking forward meeting Spurs in there because i want to exchange a few polite words with Dan K :)) @Dan K: Spurs getting any closer? @Akhil: Navas is good, but come on. Robben's season been much better

Maybe I havent seen Robben enough this season, so Im not the best judge. I've been seeing a lot of Navas in the past few seasons, and he's only getting better. I would rate Navas as one of the best wingers in the world right now. And guys dont underestimate Sevilla, they have been going through a rough patch recently, but when that patch finishes they are capable of winning the Champions league. As for CSKA, the Meat are about to experience what its like going to the Butcher's territory.

Can't wait to see Ribery regaining his form..Robben and Ribery if both are in form..Its gonna be a real treat for being a Bayern fan...Good Chance for Klose to establish himself ahead of Mario...and also think Mueller needs a break..He is kinda faded in the last few weeks.... Hope we get Bordeaux... Something points to be proved...

@Dmitri: Stick with Barca, although I do not think they are going to win this year. @Michael: Agree. Mueller needs a break. Wait until Kroos will come back from Leverkusen ! I do not think we should ask for Bordeaux. They beat us twice. I think Sevilla is the easiest one for us.

@Akhil: Sevilla way better under Juande Ramos. and unless they make salami from horse meat in Sevilla, Krasic will be too fast for the Zoo Lions :D @Mani: are you sure? you dont think Barca would win if they meet Bayern in the final?

@Akhil: watching sevilla depor right now. they're a good side, but not one who could dictate heavy opponents - for instance, we saw Lyon call shots against Real - twice. Sevilla didnt do this against CSKA in first leg. anyway, its going to be a good match im sure
