Match Analysis
A tight 3-2 win by the US over
Honduras
has ensured that the "Yanks" will be making their 6th consecutive appearance at the World Cup. It was a tough game,
but the players pulled through what was a testing encounter, to make sure that they'll be competing against the World's best in
South Africa
come June.
                                                                      Here are the goals
                                  Â
The US team seemed to wait to go one goal down, before really turning on the style.
Julio Cesar Leon Dailey
's goal in the 46th minute gave the home side the lead, but
Conor Casey
got his first international goal in the 55th, followed by his second of the match 10 minutes later. Crowd favorite
Landon Donovan
seemed to put the game beyond doubt in the 71st minute, but anything can happen in soccer right?!
Honduras stepped things up a gear and got a goal back in the 78th minute with
Julio Cesar
Leon Dailey grabbing his second of the match too. But drama in the 87th minute: US team member
Carlos Bocanegra
handled the ball in his own box with 3 minutes to go, but thankfully,
Carlos
Pavón blew the chance to level the scores. He sent his penalty kick way over
Tim Howard
's bar. It just didn't seem to be Pavón's night, as he missed another golden chance to level the scores in the 89th minute, heading over the bar when he really should have done better.
So I am not going to complain. The Hondurans couldn't take their chances to get something from the game, and now the US can celebrate that we'll for sure be participating in South Africa come June.
Now I have to take the idea of going to SA a little more seriously, and about getting tickets, well,
"Boom boom pow, gotta get get!"

The USA seem to have some backbone to them...and a little bit of lady luck! But I backed them to qualify, and I think the World Cup will be a better tournament with them participating.

Carlos Vela certainly in good form for mexico, waiting for him to get some playing time with the gunners...Carlos Pavon of Honduras contributed a lot to this USA win and probably ruined Mexico's chance at first place in CONCACAF...though i doubt that eithe MEX or USA will risk their players in the last match after having already qualified.
