Today sees the USA take on
Mexico
at Estadio Azteca in Mexico City,
in what is a key qualification battle for the 2010 World Cup in
South Africa
.
The US national team is sure to be motivated as they will attempt to make amends for their 5-0 hammering at the hands of Mexico in the Gold Cup Final, only a few short weeks ago. Both managers will most likely pick their strongest starting line-ups as this is a perfect opportunity for both teams to stake their claim to an automatic place in the World Cup.
Mexico, currently lie in 4th position in the Concacaf Qualifying Group, where the first 3 teams automatically qualify, and 4th placed must compete in a play-off against the 5th placed team from the Conmebol Qualifying Group. The USA currently lie in 2nd place, 2 points adrift of 1st placed
Costa Rica
.
I’ll be looking to Bradley and Donovan to fire the US to victory, and wouldn’t bet against Altidore (who recently transferred to English Premier League side
Hull City
) to bag one too! The Mexican threat is most likely to come from
Miguel Sabah
and
Giovani dos Santos
, but I am confident that the US defense will be able to hold out against any pressure.
If you are watching, enjoy the match!
Kick-off is @ 3 p.m. EST

Hey Daniel, Carlos Vela is definitely a threat... I have seen him play a few times and he is a cheeky player with so much skill. I just didn't want to name the entire Mexican team ;-)
