Predictions:
Group A:
Bayern need to improve, and fast, if they are to advance. This year's Juve are CL title contenders, and will easily make it out of the group stage.
Prediction: 1) Juventus, 2) Bayern, 3) Bordeaux, 4) Maccabi Haifa
Advantage:
Italy
Group B:
As usual, Man U got an easy group. The setting them aside, Wolfsburg have a pretty reasonable group, given their fourth-pot status. Due to their home form, I'd rate Wolfsburg ahead of the likes of CSKA Moscow and Besiktas.
Prediction: 1) Man U, 2) Wolfsburg, 3) Besiktas, 4) CSKA Moscow
Advantage:
Germany
(no competition from Italy, but Wolfsburg should advance)
Group C:
AC Milan are not group favorites.
Real
Madrid got fairly lucky, drawing probably the second-worst Pot 1 team. Still, with Marseille and Zurich as opponents, I have a feeling Milan will make it through to the knock-out stage, but just barely.
Prediction: 1) Real Madrid, 2) Milan, 3) Marseille, 4) Zurich
Advantage: Italy (no competition from Germany, but Milan should advance)
Group E:
Liverpool
will advance, as always, and I believe this year's revamped Lyon are simply too good for Fiorentina this year.
Prediction: 1) Liverpool, 2) Lyon, 3) Fiorentina, 4) Debreceni VSC
Advantage: Germany (an Italy loss is a win for Germany)
Group F:
Barca will be favorites for winning the CL, so they advance by default. Inter, though they may falter early in the knock-out round for lack of overall quality, should be able to out-perform
Dynamo
Kiev and Rubin Kasan in the group stages. It also helps that, in Eto'o, Inter have signed a striker who can score goals in Europe.
Prediction: 1) Barca, 2) Inter, 3) Dynamo Kiev, 4) Rubin Kasan
Advantage: Italy (no contest from Germany)
Group G:
Probably the best group for Pot 3 or Pot 4 team, so Stuttgart got lucky. Maybe this year, they won't totally blow their chances (never forget 2007), but perhaps not.
Prediction: 1) Sevilla, 2)
Rangers
, 3) Stuttgart, 4) Unirea Urziceni
Advantage: Italy (because Germany lose)
Perhaps the most vital contests in the Germany/Italy battle will be in groups C, E, and G. In Group C, Milan may not advance. In groups E, and G, Fiorentina and Stuttgart each have a decent chance to advance against my prediction.
EDIT:
BAYERN SIGNED ROBBEN, JUVENTUS SIGNED GROSSO BUT MISSED OUT ON RAFINHA. TIP GROUP A TO GERMANY, WITH BAYERN FINISHING AHEAD OF JUVENTUS IN FIRST PLACE.

Um, Stuttgart #3 and not #2? No way I see them losing to Rangers.

Never forget 2007:Barcelona 14 Lyon 10 Rangers 7 Stuttgart 3And that was when Stuttgart had Mario Gomez... (and before all the Gomez haters swarm, he scored 3 goals in 4 CL matches)

Should this not be Spain vs Italy? With classic Milan vs Real Madrid and Barca vs Inter i would expect a different title for this topic

It's Germany vs Italy because La Liga is far ahead of Serie A in the UEFA coefficients, but the Bundesliga has a very good chance of surpassing Serie A this year.
