GREAT....HE REALLY DESERVES
01.12.2009 14:52
Well deserved award, congratulations to Leo Messi.
01.12.2009 15:52
i dnt think he deserves it... really shws tht the panel goes for the "limelight" players, not the ones who played well throughout... in my opinion, xavi shudve won... and the fact that xavis been brilliant for both club and country adds to my repulsion... all messi did for argentina was whine... while in barca, he was gr8 coz xavi and iniesta played down for him...
01.12.2009 15:53
not to mention the workhorse in eto'o and his other barca teammates....
01.12.2009 16:18
hey, retardo, hav problems reading? i was talkin about last year faggot! lol...
01.12.2009 16:21
btw, ur profile looks like another *fake* profile that maradona made, just to abuse all-things-soccer (and obviously, against all-things-anti-Argentinian)... and ur names "greensmoke" ah! smokin crack(marijuana), diegos fav. passtime... proves my point really...

Hey guys, Sam and Greensmoke... be nice to each other. Write decent comments, okay? If you disagree on something, just explain it professionally. I like reading your comments, but you need to keep them clean, okay? Anyway, don't stop the talking, Cheers. :)
01.12.2009 16:41

By  LiLBoss
01.12.2009 16:46
Greensmoke called you that in a private message? Anyway, I understand this cannot be very nice mostly when you're not a Chelsea fan. Well, Sam, did you go to Lionelmessifan.com to read the full article or did you just read the excerpt here and wrote your comments? I just want to know out of curiousity :)

01.12.2009 17:10

ahaha... nice joke Lyah... no, we're men here :P
By  LiLBoss
01.12.2009 17:43
Me, I chose Lampard in my top 5 because I thought he was a very good midfielder for Chelsea last season. He scored almost anyhow, long range, close range, free-kick, deflection, header, and his assists and passes were very good too, so, I think he deserves a place in the top 5. What do you think?

01.12.2009 18:28
last year NO ONE WAS BETTER THAN MESSI at least i think so , it seems like a lot of other people think the so too,,,,, his speed, his quickness, his lightning fast thinking, his innovations from the Olympics to the champions league , he did almost everything perfect, when he toyed with teams like bayern Munich, real madrid , man utd, lyon, sevilla , ath madrid, etc, it seemed like the ball wouldn't like to leave his feet, as for ronaldo, well he was great too well he was injured for a great deal of time also believe when you play you don't play for your self but for your team, without the team you are nothing, and i always believed messi was a more team player than ronaldo, now the question about players like xavi or iniesta comes in, well next year i can see iniesta lifting that trophy, but for now it is only messi,,,,XD
01.12.2009 18:33
ohh yea year the least month( world cup qualifiers), many were saying messi can only play for club not country,,,,,,,,lolz,,,,,,,well i don't see any palyer perform at argentina well at the moment for argentina somethimes get a goal out of the blue,,,,,,,,,messi was the real messi at the olympics where he was probably argentina's best player, but i just don't see the real argentina , so how can i expect to see the real messi?
01.12.2009 18:34
code 22: c'mon! xavi was seriously better; u as a barca fan shud knw it!
01.12.2009 18:35

Hey Love Ballack, what do you think about having a chat section at Footbo... It would make the interaction better, no? :) Like to hear from you...
02.12.2009 13:12
@sam i'm a barca fan i know xavi is the lung of the team , but still xavi is the world's best play maker but messi can creat and finish, according to me last year, after xavi and andres messi was the best plymaker in barca, xavi only sefves messi serves and finishes nevertheless i think xavi atleast deserved 2nd, and iniesta 3rd i'm not saying coz' they r barca players but still they really worked hard last year,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,anyways maybe nest year's the year so san andres

02.12.2009 13:20
ok code:22, looks like you're making a point there... I see. Just a question, did you read the full article? I just want to know... among all of you, who read the full article?
02.12.2009 13:47
i read the whole thing... well written... :) but hey, last year, even ronaldo and kaka did more work than messi did( they returnd from an injury, and spearheaded the man utd, and ac milan attack single-handedly)... in a team lyk barca, ur always gnna score goals... and thats the only thing messi did... nd ur wrong, xavi and iniesta are the heart of barca... but in the end; the award was givn to barca's pretty face...sad..
By  LiLBoss
02.12.2009 14:49
come on sam... that's not so sad.. I think Cristiano Ronaldo did great, so did Kaka, but Messi also had some inner pressure... not from his fans, nor from the public. He had pressure in terms of consistency; if you remember, Lionel Messi was obliged to be at his full best the whole of last season, as by then, Barcelona were now rebuilding their empire. One mistake could have been deadly. It wasn't like for Ronaldo, who had scored 42 goals the previous season to feel much more comfortable the next season. On the contrary, Barcelona had won nothin in 2 years, and they needed to bounce back. It wasn't easy for anyone in the team. Indeed, I think that with the trust Pep Guardiola had in him, Lionel Messi did almost everything he could to ensure that Barca were back at their full best from his perspective, mostly in terms of individual play. Don't you think so? :)

Hey sam, is it really you on your profile picture? 'cos this is really me... Just curious :)

messi is great player and deserves recognition... but i think the player who has been te best this year has been xavi even iniesta sayed it "barca wont work without xavi" he allows the messi to get the space needed to do as he wants even if they named messi 1ts i think its insulting that xavi was rated so much lower than him he should at the very least come second with a close amount of points to messi... c.ronaldo is great no denying that but this year xavi and messi played on much higher level than him or kaka... i just hope xavi gets his just by atleast winning the world player of the year award but they way they showed the ballon dor i dnt think that will happen these awardsare always going to the popular players of the game e.g. cannavaro in 2006 no way zidane set that world cup alite and ronaldinho had his last dance at the top with his performance for barca... pavel nedved in 2004 okay but with henry scoring 39 and helping arsenal to an unbeaten season come on
By  LiLBoss
02.12.2009 15:16
Wow... it looks like there a lot of people here who think Xavi deserved to win the award, or at least, come close to Messi. Well, to be honest, Xavi was arguably the best midfielder in the world last season, but speaking of the Ballon d'Or, Messi had the upper hand in my opinion. But nice to hear your comments guys... I really like your enthusiasm... all of you. :)
By  shak90
02.12.2009 17:23
opps i made a mistake on my comment i went on about pavel nedved it was actually shevchenko who won the ballon dor in 2004 sorry... but that said shevchenko winning the ballon dor is a joke he scored lots true but if you watch those goals hardly any of them were goals he made on his own he just fed of milans amazing midfielders henry was undoubtly the best player that year and he didnt get recognized for it same thing has gone on with footballers for ages its the high scorers in decorated clubs that get the award
02.12.2009 17:42
i still dnt knw why the highest scorer in europe(forlan) was ommitted from the top 10... :?
02.12.2009 18:18
xavi can never do messi moves , he's just too old 4 it, and besides messi was one of laliga's best assist givers too, remember the assist he gave to pedro in the european super cup, a true master art !so it show that his scoring ability overcast's his assist,,,,,,,,,,,,anyways the thing thats bugs me more is how in the hell did cr9 make 2nd and not xavi or iniesta,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
03.12.2009 23:57
I think Messi deserves it. He is a really great player
04.12.2009 04:27
he IS a great player, but best last season? i think not... and @code, its not bout bein old enuf, its about their style of individual play... remember when xavi broke van der sar's post with his freekick in the cl?
04.12.2009 05:33
por fin ya era hora de q lio messi c llevara el balon de oro un aplauso para el crak del siglo 21 ...!! viva sur-america los mas grandes jugadores de la historia se encuentran aki... duelale a quien le duela.. urraa..!!! MESSI...!! dsd Vnzla...

Barcelona and Argentina forward Lionel Messi was awarded the 2009 Ballon D'Or, French magazine France Football said on its website on Tuesday. The 22-year-old became the first Ballon D'Or winner from Argentina, eclipsing runner-up and last year's winner Cristiano Ronaldo by a record 240-point margin. The award's 96 jurors gave Messi 473 points out of a possible 480, a near unanimous verdict, the magazine said. http://www.goarticles.com/cgi-bin/showa.cgi?C=2290126
