NFL’s Super Bowl vs. FIFA’s World Cup

Well, the 2009/2010 American football season has officially come to an end. Last night’s Super Bowl was the cherry on top of another delicious season of bone-crunching action. Sadly, we will now have to wait approximately half of a year for more college and pro games. Many of us will miss it. I know I sure will, even though my favored teams (Vanderbilt Commodores and Tampa Bay Buccaneers) didn’t exactly provide much entertainment over the last year.

The 2009 Superbowl final played between Pittsburgh and Arizona had a massive worldwide audience. But for the first time ever, in 2009, the worldwide TV audience was broken by the Champions League Final between FC Barcelona and Manchester United. Also the Champions League had the most global appeal since the Superbowl was mostly watched within America. The Champions League has moved to become the greatest sports tournament ever, and the sport of the world is definitely football.
