The
Man City
owners are going about this the wrong way,
Ronaldo
will never ever leave United for anybody other than
Barcelona
or
Real madrid
. This past summer was never about money, he's dreamt of playing for one of the big two is
Spain
since he was a boy, he has said that for years.
Torres
is
Liverpool
through and through and always wanted to play for Liverpool which was why he turned down bids from Barca and United. If Cesc ever leaves
Arsenal
it wll only be for Barca. They're apparently after
Kaka
as well, who I think would only come to
England
to play for United, he once said that one of his greatest moments was being able to play against
Ryan Giggs
. And
Messi
I dount will ever leave Barcalona. Also how many world stars have ever come to the Premiership? I can't think of one. All the world stars is the Premiership,
Rooney
, Ronaldo, Gerrrard, Torres, Fabergas and people like Henry, Cantona, Van Nistelrooy were made in the Prem. If you're ask to choose between living in Madrid, Milian, Turin, Barcelona or Manchester, Liverpool, London, usually only London has a chance.
What they need to do is go after the same kind of players that
Chelsea
went after, Chelsea were smart. The only players that were genuine stars before coming to Chelsea were Makelele, Sheva and
Ballack
. If you look at they're two Championship winning teams they were something like this:
Cech
Bridge Terry Carvalho,
Ferreira
Makelele
Tiago/Smertin Lampard
Duff
Drogba
, Robben.
Cech
Del Horno Terry Carvalho Gallas
Makelele
Essien Lampard
Cole Drogba Robben/Duff/Wright-Phillips.
Other than Makaele, who played at Madrid, none of the team had been playing in teams above Chelsea. They were moulded into a great team together, rather than a group of indivduals. It's no suprise that Chelsea started to fall apart when players were brought in behind Jose's back. Yes they got to the CL final and a point off the prem, but in the last three weeks Chelsea lost last minute goals at home to
Wigan
and
Bolton
, without them they would have won the league. Could you picture that happening the year before?
What they need to do is let
Mark Hughes
go and get the right kind of player to move to City. He did it at
Blackburn
. Players won't come to City if they are already great. But they will come to City if they can be great but just need a manager to get it out of them, Sparky did it at Blackburn with people like Pederson, who was roting in the reserves under Souness, he did it with Bently who never got a chance at Arsenal, he did it with
Santa Cruz
, McCarthy, he got Dunn playing well again, got something out of Stephen Reid. And he took failures in the Welsh national side and came so close to getting to the Euros, and beat
italy
, then left and the same side became failures again.
To sum up, they need to follow the Chelsea pattern and stop going after superstars and let Mark
Hughes
do his job right because Mark Hughes is the next great manager. I just hope he moves up the road in a few seasons.

I agree with some of what you say but not all. I think its about having a balance between the so-called superstars that City are supposedly after and the lesser 'workhorse' types of players like Dunne, Johnson etc. I think City do lack a bit of class up top and the addition of another few world class players would propel the team to another level. Whether Hughes is the man for the job- only time will tell...
